Beyond The Mind: A Series of Non-Dual Reflections
When many of my clients come for therapy, they talk of a sense of disconnection… Of a separation between themselves and the world around them, feeling like they are alien, or perhaps ‘on the outside looking in’. They speak of the mind and its incessant activity… The constant chatter, especially late at night when trying to sleep… The identification with the stories the mind tells, all the things they got wrong or need to do tomorrow. There is rarely any space for presence. Yet it is only in the presence moment when we may be free of the chatter of the mind and sense of disconnection.
“The Power of Now”, as Eckhart Tolle might say, is to live in alignment with what is happening in this moment. It is a place of no mind, or perhaps what is ‘beyond the mind’…
In this series of discussions, I am joined by some friends who have experienced the dissolution of the ‘separate self’ for themselves, and are willing and prepared to speak about this with others. They share how living in connection with life and themselves can have a transformational effect on their wellbeing, and offer practical tips and suggestions on various topics, which will be shared below.
Psychotherapy can work on a conceptual (mind-based) level, or a deeper, more transpersonal one. In the latter, it is someone’s presence and awareness that does the work. For me personally, this has had the most lasting healing effect. It is a joy to be able to offer these insights to you here.
Episode One: Depression (19.07.25):
What if depression isn’t just a problem to fix, but an invitation to see more clearly?
In this opening episode, we explore depression through a non-dual lens—looking at medication, causes (or the lack of them), the difference between clinical depression and existential dissatisfaction, and how being present with what is may bring a deeper kind of healing. Personal experiences are shared with honesty and care.
